As a frequent traveler, we know how important it is to get an insiders tip on where to go and what to avoid. Just a quick hit on a few great restaurants to visit while you are in Monterey or Carmel.

Andree Bouchee's in downtown Carmel is for you if you love gourmet food done right.  We've eaten there twice in the past 30 days with friends and EVERYONE was happy.    They don't gouge you and the portions are decent.

Stay away from the restaurants at the Carmel Highlands Inn...why? Well unless you want to pay $38 for 3 mediocre scallops on a bed of average mashed potatoes. Andree Bouchee's was only $28 and way more tasty.

For Quick Chinese: Carmel Rancho shopping center's Chinese Restaurant, China Delight.  It's next to the Yogurt place.  The sizzling rice soup was very healthy and yummy. We shared a small order of the soup and it was plenty.

BEST BARGAIN: $$ CHOPSTIX: We eat here twice a week.  It's $5 for every meal. $6.50 if you want a larger portion.  CHOPSTIX is  located across from the Del Monte Mall Shopping Center.  Yummy Boba drinks too and they also deliver.  Try the 5 Spice Chicken.

BREAKFAST ANYONE? Try: Lou Lou's Griddle in the Middle, located on the Commercial Fisherman's Wharf.  They're sassy and fun here. The Seafood Omelet is our fav.  Take quarters for the meters though.  They even carmelize the top of your oatmeal like it's creme brulee. Reasonably priced. Eat in or Outside.

Check back here often as we rate more local establishments.

STAY AWAY FROM: Bubba Gumps ...it's so noisy and really just a giant tourist trap.  We found nothing about this restaurant appealing.
